WEST DIVISION CHAMPION ELMIRA PIONEERS ANNOUNCE FIRST FIVE OF THE 2025 ROSTER

The Back to Back West Division Champion Elmira Pioneers have officially released the first five players of their 2025 Roster. This group of five players includes one returner from the 2024 season and four new players. P – Andrew Roxby, C – Anthony Manganello, IF – Brooks Hicken, RHP – Bryce Mashanic, & RHP – Casey Julkowski.

Andrew Roxby a 6’3 sophomore pitcher from Dallas, PA, playing for Misericordia University. He was a part of the Misericordia team that clinched the NCAA Division III championship last season. His team attended the annual White House College Championships Day.

Anthony Manganello is a 5’10 freshman catcher and outfielder at Northwood University, bringing speed and versatility to the lineup. From Woodridge, IL, he bats left and throws right, making him a dynamic presence on the field. So far this season, Manganello has appeared in 12 games and contributed with 4 RBIs, 8 runs, and 2 stolen bases.

Brooks Hicken is a 6’3 sophomore infielder at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A Jacksonville, Florida native, he bats left and throws right, bringing a strong presence to the lineup. So far this season, Hicken has appeared in 29 games, posting a .312 batting average and a .385 on-base percentage.

Bryce Mashanic is returning for his second year with the Elmira Pioneers. Mashanic is a 5’10 sophomore right-handed pitcher from Elmira, NY, and is currently playing at SUNY Niagara. A competitor on the mound, he made history during his senior year at Elmira High School by throwing the first no-hitter in program history, leading his team to a 4-0 victory over Ithaca.

Casey Julkowski is a 6’0 freshman, a right-handed pitcher from Gresham, Oregon, he is currently attending Centralia College. A natural competitor, he was a dual- sport athlete in high school, excelling in both baseball and football. Known for his enthusiasm and energy on and off the field, Casey brings a strong work ethic and passion for the game to the mound.

The Elmira Pioneers would like to welcome Horseheads native Alex Smith as their 2025 Assistant General Manager.  Alex Smith recently just finished his junior year at SUNY Fredonia majoring in Sport Management with minors in Business Admin, Communication Studies, and Athletic Coaching. While at Fredonia, Alex has interned at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, as well as serving as the Hockey Operations Director for Fredonia’s NCAA DIII hockey team. Alex is returning to the Pioneers after he completed his internship last season with the team, and is excited for another season of Pios baseball.

HOT STOVE DINNER FEATURING NEW YORK METS GREAT MOOKIE WILSON

New York Mets World Series Champion Mookie Wilson, will come to Elmira, NY Thursday April 17th at 5pm at the Clarion Inn Elmira (760 E Water St Elmira NY) presented by Hilliard Corporation & Blaze Brockway Contracting. The event will have a special meet & greet followed by a hot stove dinner with Wilson as the guest speaker. Mookie Wilson was drafted by the New York Mets in the second round in 1977. Wilson played for over 12 seasons as a player in the MLB, won the World Series in 1986 with the Mets, a switch hitter with amazing speed, and was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1996. Wilson also spent seven years as the Mets’ first-base coach and continued working for the Mets Organization following his MLB Career.
