Pioneers Continue To Enhance Roster

The Pioneers have added three more unique players to their roster as today they announce the addition of Pitcher/Infielder Nathan Berg, Outfielder Andrew Sexton, and Outfielder Garrett Schultz.


Berg is a 6’1, 180 lbs right handed Pitcher/Infield Freshman from Xavier by way of New Prague, MN. Nathan was a Perfect Game All-America honorable mention, All-Wright county conference and Academic All-State during his four year tenure as a starting shortstop and pitcher for his high school in New Prague. Berg also played quarterback for three seasons as well as earning two letters in ice hockey.


Sexton is a 5’11, 175 lbs junior outfielder from Xavier by way of Cincinnati, OH. Andrew’s .980 career fielding percentage at Xavier has been more than impressive, but after a short season in his freshman year, Sexton played in 45 games as a sophomore and led the team with a .429 on base percentage. Before attending Xavier, Andrew was one of just two juniors on the Greater Catholic League South division first team in 2015. Sexton also helped the Lancers to three-straight appearances in the OHSAA State Regionals, including a trip to the finals and a 25-8 record in 2016 and was a part of the winningest season in school history. Sexton was a Cincinnati Enquirer First Team All-City pick in 2016 and two-time Cincinnati Enquirer Honorable Mention All-City pick as well as being named first team all-GCL South as a senior.



Schultz is a 6’0, 170 lbs Freshman to be at Xavier having committed himself this year in his senior season at Ensworth High School in Nashville, TN. Garrett has racked up numerous accolades during his high school career. Schultz is a top 500 ranked player, a six time All-Tournament Team member starting in 2014 as a thirteen year old, a three time Showcase Top Prospect Team in the Southeast, National, and Underclass Showcases, as well as a two time high honorable mention for Preseason Underclassmen All-American.


“Xavier continues to provide quality players throughout the year and we are fortunate to be able to work with three of them this summer. Nathan and Andrew have had great seasons in Xavier and with Garrett coming off his senior season we are excited for the summer as well.” Matt Burch said.
